Wollemi Bakery and Cafe in Lithgow serves up more than just coffee and pastries — it’s a spot where locals and visitors alike find a casual, roomy place to linger over breakfast or a midday break. Situated on Main Street, this cafe mixes a bustling, family-friendly atmosphere with practical touches that make it easy to settle in for a chat or a quick refuel during a day of exploring.

The coffee here earns consistent nods for quality, pairing well with a solid selection of pies and sweet treats. The environment feels lively, especially during peak times, filled with the hum of conversation and the sound of kids enjoying a small play area, giving parents space to relax nearby. Seating sprawls indoors with plenty of room, from sturdy timber slab tables that add a welcoming natural edge to the decor, making it suitable for both casual catch-ups and a spot to recharge during weekend outings.

Wollemi also embraces its role as a community stop, remaining open on Saturdays—a rarity worth noting in Lithgow’s cafe scene. Beyond food and drink, the adjoining gift section offers a quirky assortment of homewares and local trinkets, from clocks and candles to decorative sculptures, drawing in those who might be browsing for something a bit different to take home.

Accessibility is thoughtfully considered at the entrance with a ramp, though the toilet facilities may not fully accommodate wheelchair users, a detail worth keeping in mind. When inside facilities occasionally face maintenance, clean public toilets nearby offer a practical alternative.

In summary, Wollemi Bakery and Cafe is best suited for families, travelers passing through, and locals seeking a bright, busy spot for coffee and casual meals, especially on weekends. Expect a lively, down-to-earth vibe rather than quiet or intimate, so times outside of peak lunch hours might be the best bet for those after a more peaceful experience.

This bakery has great coffee and pies. They even have a kids area, so mums can relax and chat while the kiddos play. And if you’re looking for a unique gift or Nick nack they also have that too. Check out all the photos to see the options like candles, clocks and much more.

Good range of pies, cakes and other eats. Friendly place. Coffee is decent. Plenty of room to sit inside. Disability friendly. Open on a Saturday, which seems to be rare in Lithgow.

Really nice coffee & drinks, food great. Can be extremely noisy & owners should think about noise dampeners to attach to ceiling. Wheelchair friendly via entranceway ramp but toilets not wheelchair friendly. There is an area for kids to play & another section that has giftware ranging from clocks, wind chimes & sculptures to small shelf ornaments. A good place to ‘catch-up’.

Excellent food served with a smile. Very large sitting area with a gift shop attached. Gets very busy, for a good reason - food is great.

We dropped in for lunch while passing through. We shared a wonderful Vietnamese pork roll (skilfully crafted by Mary), a steak & kidney pie and a vanilla malt. It was very tasty!! The perfect lunch for the driving travellers. We sat at one of the magificant sawn timber slab tables and bench. Their indoor toilets were out of order, but we walked 150m (2 minutes) to clean public toilets at the Lone Pine park, opposite the Theatre Royal.
